Global development of the Romanian wrestling
CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE ROMANIAN SCHOOLFOR THE WRESTLING DEVELOPMENT GLOBALLY
The two institutions which led to the apparition and development of the wrestling Romanian school were:
a) The National Academy of Physical Education and Sports – (founded in 1922 under the name of I.N.E.F. – National Institute of Physical Education) through the formation of the most valuable Romanian specialists in the wrestling domain;
b) The Romanian Wrestling Federation – founded in 1930 under the name of The Romanian Federation of Wrestling and Weightlifting with the headquarters at Oradea, institution that would change it’s headquarters in Bucharest a year later and that would meet official recognition in the year 1932 when the first chairman, Mr. Camil Mănuilă
c) Through the combined effort of these two institutions, in time they succeeded to exploit the legislative circumstance in the context of the existing traditions regarding wrestling sports and the deployment of internationals direction in their later on development.
d) The romanian wrestling school gets itself noticed through the following characteristics:
1) The obtained record:In the course of the activity of R.W.F. (Romanian Wrestling Federation) the following results were obtained:


To the 32 medals obtained at the Olympics Games at both styles are added another 14 medals at the World Championship and another 50 at the European Championship at Free Wrestling style, the 91 medals at the European Championship and 62 medals at World Championship at the Greco-Roman Wrestling, plus countless medals obtained by the Romanian wrestlers at the junior and cadets category, and later on the medals obtained by the feminine wrestling lot – all this entitle us to say that in Romania was formed and exists a wrestling school.
2) Domain specialists: By the Romanian wrestling school it is mainly associated the name of the one who was Ion Corneanu – the emeritus master of sport, the first graduate of N.A.P.E.S. (National Academy of Physical Education and Sport) specializing in wrestling, coach of the representative lot of wrestling for over 3 decades, former vice-president of FILA ,shaper of the majority Olympic champions at wrestling and coordinator for the F.R.L. activity, for a long period; Currently F.R.L. is organizing annually The International wrestling Tournament under the sponsorship of F.I.L.A., tournament that is named after the prestigious specialist International Wrestling Tournament “Ion Corneanu” .

Besides the name Corneanu resides the following: Waskul-Popovici loan, Cismaş Gheorghe, Puşcaşii Vasiie, Andrei Vasile, Pavel Nicolae, Urianu Gheorghe, Coman Petre, Rusu Ştefan, Alexandru Constantin and many others – figures who’s value was internationally acknowledged – some as athletes, others as coaches or who obtained remarkable results both as athletes and coaches.Currently in Romania are active a number of 117 active coaches at Free Wrestling style from which 39 are emeritus coaches and 85 active coaches at Greco Roman Wrestling from which 43 are emeritus coaches. 3) Own methodology of training:
The contributions brought by the Romanian Wrestling School can be summarized to:
- Elaboration and rescheduling of the training in a biannual form, which allows the same wrestlers to approach World Championship as well as European Championship, situation argued by a statements series of coaches and technical methodology materials elaborated on the basis of Romanian practice experience.
- Elaboration of efficient contents of training periods in the course of the year.
- Explicitly the improvement of the specific and nonspecific content of the training period.
- Organizing and carrying out actions for the improvement of coaches at international level lead by Romanian specialists that brought improvements to the form and content of the descriptive and explicative materials for the different training stages and the related resources;
- Establishing assessment parameters and indicators for the wrestlers behavior in the contest as well as new ways to analyze the competition wrestling and the training;
- Promoting autochthon scientific research results meant to enhance the quality of the training process.
- The presentation and activity of Romanian specialists within the working organisms of FILA (Comeanu Ion – vice president FILA);
- Adjusting the working methodology regarding the development of the force and resisting force, methodology assumed also by specialists from another countries;
- Elaborating, publishing and translating to other languages of papers that belong to Romanian specialists;
- Elaboration of new methods or of new ways for wrestle, used in first premiere and with success by the Romanian wrestlers and then used also by the foreign wrestlers: (Dumitru Pârvulescu, Ştefan Rusu, Andrei Vasile, Gheorghe Berceanu, Alexandru Constantin)
4) Specific Organizations of activity: In 2006 there were 8 high schools with sportive profile which had wrestling classes, 14 regional associations with wrestling profile, 7 organisms of specialty (of the type of school groups and associations), 41 school sport clubs, 36 sport clubs and 16 working sport clubs.
